Despite receiving trade inquiries from multiple teams around the league, the Oklahoma City Thunder have made it clear that Chet Holmgren is off limits.
According to Zach Lowe, rival front offices have contacted the Thunder to explore Holmgren’s availability, but Oklahoma City has consistently informed teams that the former No. 2 overall pick is not available in trade discussions.
The stance underscores the organization’s commitment to its young championship core and eliminates any speculation that the Thunder might consider moving one of their foundational pieces.
The Oklahoma City Thunder are making their stance clear on one of their cornerstone players.
Multiple rival teams have reached out to gauge the availability of Holmgren, but the Thunder have delivered the same response each time: he’s not going anywhere.
Holmgren being punked by Victor Wembanyama in the Western Conference Finals seemed to fuel trade talks surrounding the Thunder big man. In the NBA’s penultimate series, he averaged just 10.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.7 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game, including just 8 points in game 1 and was furniture in Game 7, scoring a mere 4 points and attempted just 4 field goals in 33 minutes on the court. Despite his meek performance against the Spurs, Oklahoma City remains fully committed to Holmgren as a central figure in its long-term plans.
Holmgren, alongside Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams, forms the foundation of a Thunder team that has quickly emerged as one of the NBA’s premier contenders. After building a roster capable of competing for championships, the organization appears focused on maintaining continuity rather than exploring blockbuster moves.
Interest from rival teams is hardly surprising. Holmgren’s unique blend of size, shot-blocking, floor spacing, and playmaking has made him one of the league’s most coveted young talents. Yet those same qualities are precisely why Oklahoma City has no interest in entertaining offers.
As trade rumors continue to circulate around the NBA, the Thunder’s position remains firm: Chet Holmgren is a key part of their present and future.
